‘No, you do not have to take all the packaging. All you need to present is your goods, original tax invoice, boarding pass and Passport to the Officer at the TRS Facility. As your Tax Invoice is over A$1000 it must state your name and address on it.
You will have to either wear or carry your shoes and present them to the TRS facility.
*
If the goods are to be brought back into Australia, please be aware that they may be subject to GST. Normal passenger concessions apply and include any items for which a TRS claim has been approved (excluding most personal items such as new clothing, footwear and articles for personal hygiene and grooming).
If the value of those goods together with overseas purchases exceeds the passenger concession, the goods must be declared to Customs on your return to Australia. Penalties apply to undeclared taxable goods.
There are options that allow for claims to be made on oversized goods before being checked in as hold luggage. As the goods and receipt need to be presented to a Customs officer for viewing and validation,
you can attend to the Customs office located within the arrivals area (land side) before proceeding to the check in, Immigration processing and departures area.
1. Attend to the Customs office on the arrivals side
2. Present your receipt and goods to Customs
3. The Customs officers will view your goods and acknowledge all TRS formalities within this office.
4. The receipt will be validated.
5. Check in your oversize goods.
6. Proceed to the Immigration and departures area.
7. Go to TRS office located on departures
8. Present your validated receipt
9. Make your claim.
