“AN overseas student has drowned at West Beach after venturing for a swim near the breakwater, about 500m north of the boat ramp, this afternoon.

An air and ground search ended when the man - who is a 24-year-old Chinese student living in Mildura - was pulled from the water by a passer-by shortly after 3pm.

Attempts to revive the man failed and police will prepare a report for the Coroner, a police spokesman said.”
